  86. The high-pass filter is the first line of defense against TVI to 
  87. antenna-connected televisions that is caused by HF radio 
  88. transmitters!  A high- pass filter is not usually needed or 
  89. effective with interference problems to CATV-connected TVs.  For 
  90. cable interference problems, use a common-mode choke.

  139. Amateur VHF stations can interfere with antenna-connected 
  140. televisions.  Television tuners do not often have much 
  141. adjacent-channel rejection, resulting in severe fundamental 
  142. overload.  These tunable notch filters will reject the strong 
  143. amateur signal, allowing the television to function normally.
  144.  
  145. Note: these filters will not help when an amateur signal is 
  146. interfering with cable channel 18 (channel E).  In that case, 
  147. the problem results because cable channel 18 and the Amateur 
  148. 2-meter band occupy the same frequencies.  Some of these filters 
  149. are expensive.  Contact the vendor before ordering.

  236. immunity.  This is not necessarily guaranteed by Radio Shack.

  243. OLD AT&T telephones, made by several different companies, notably 
  244. models 300, 500 (rotary), 2500 (DTMF), 2554 (DTMF wall phone,). 
  245. These phones are made by AT&T (Western Electric), Comdial 
  246. (Stromberg Carlson), Northern Telecom, and ITT.  These phones 
  247. have no semiconductors in them and have a carbon microphone, hence 
  248. the RF immunity.  The only devices that can produce problems are 
  249. the silicon carbide varistors.  Most of these phones are no longer 
  250. being manufactured but are sometimes found used at garage sales or 
  251. flea markets.

  253. The ARRL Technical Department has received one report (each) that 
  254. the following telephones are immune to EMI. Additional reports 
  255. about these telephones are sought.  (Note - just because one phone 
  256. by a particular manufacturer is immune does not indicate that ALL 
  257. phones by that manufacturer are immune!  Several of these 
  258. manufacturers have phones for which we have received 
  259. inteference reports.)
